Wins & Losses: The Mounting Pressure
In the Democratic East, both Fantasia and South Park find themselves falling behind early in a typically competitive division. Fantasia’s offense looked mediocre in Week 3, so expect the offense to start flowing through RB Eric Douglas as a primary passing option. As for South Park, getting behind schedule resulting in a lack of executing on 3rd down. Then mixed with ill-timed penalties that need to be cleaned up before South Park can begin to show some type of authori-ty.
Aaa is setting the table in the D West, with Siler cruising along with a 110 QBR; but injuries have already been to stack and if this trend continues, Aaa will need to place a call for emergency roadside fill-ins through the robust FA market or seek a trade partner or 2.
Shrewsbury can’t help to notice their current placement in the D North basement, despite having such a talented roster and number of those talented players dealing with acute injuries. In Week 3, Shrewsbury regained the lead in the 4th, only to later to eventually lose. It’s still early, but with everyone gunning for the division title, every game is critical.
The D South is currently a 2-way fight , and with the Leopards and Birds well into the negative of the PF – PA war, Vienna and Southwest are looking to add a division banner to their collections. If the Birds and Leopards want to get back in the mix, then an adjustment in game plan may be necessary.
In the Republican East, Honolulu has tempered a 2-game lead in the division. With their game day competition's win-loss record being a combined 3-6, its difficult to say if the team can maintain this level of success. The other teams need to look at their defenses and, as for Shelton, both sides of the ball are struggling through the first 3 games.
The D West is 1 of 2 divisions containing 2 undefeated teams. Watford started the season with a miracle play for the win over the defending champs, but the competition level has dropped off for the last 2 weeks. Gotham’s has faced questionable competition and has done enough to start 3-0, with surviving the lone division match-up 7-3 over Fort Wayne.
The defending champs, in the R North, are currently playing 2nd fiddle in their division due to a conference loss to Watford to start the season. Other than the Week 1 “Skulls & Bones – Chuck & Bump” by Watford, Iowa has looked similar to last season’s team despite an early drop off in sack production. Gravata facing its first team with a winning record, was unable to upend the over-used RB receiver coming out of the back field which led to its first loss of the season. Toronto has lost 2 of its 3 games by double digits, and Ottawa opponents through the first 3 weeks have a combined win-loss record of 8-1, with only the double-digit loss being to Week 3 opponent Charlotte.
The R South is the other division bolstering 2 undefeated teams and with the highest overall number of wins for a division (9) through 3 weeks. Only 13 points separate Oxford and Montreal in the aggregate PF – PA. Oxford has faced stronger competition than Montreal based upon win-loss records, but only edged by divisional rival Hogwarts by 7 points in a Week 2 match-up. Montreal has managed 3-point wins against New York and division foe, Nills, both with 1-2 records. Given the performances of last season, this season has already started to trend in the same direction, with Oxford taking the division and the remaining 3 teams fiercely battling for a wild card spot.
